Pictured below is the original 1940 Shuster artwork for page 5 as it was
published in Alter Ego #26. The reproduction was fuzzy, grainy, and distorted; with very little detail and
much of the line-work unusable for a finished page: (click here for the full-size version) |
First, Bob created all-new detailed inks for the page, by enlarging the reproduction and inking over it on a sheet of vellum: |

After scanning the new inks, Bob digitally colored the virtual page: | Tor then digitally created new dialog and balloons, overlaying the original Shuster Studio artwork and using it as a guide. He removed the window in the first panel and made other adjustments to the Museum Entrance in the first tier, in order to bring the page in line with our first version of page 4. This page was originally lettered with Blambot's Anime Ace font.

Sarge later joined the project and recolored the page. The dialogue balloons shown here in the first tier had been merged with the inks because of artwork modifications. | Final page after Tor has restored
the museum entrance
in the first tier to its original appearance (since Angel had re-worked the entrance on page 4), adjusted the balloons and the lettering, and digitally constructed the paintings in the third tier. This page was also relettered using the K-Metal font, which Tor had recently created.
